Soundtrack of the Day- Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall by Coldplay

I must confess I have a thing for British bands... but my love affair with Coldplay started ages ago since 1999 (in all fairness I was 12 years old then, and I know they existed as a band under a different name before that).
Anyway, today is the beginning of another weekend, it's summer time, the day is bright, sunny and warm. Days like these call for a positive upbeat song that just makes you see every color a bit brighter than it might appear. Music influences the way I feel quite often, so by making a pleasant memory with a particular song, it enables me to recreate that same feeling even during a cloudy, stormy, and rainy day.
When I heard this song for the first time, automatically I started thinking about a lively city, where people just went about their business with a full smile on their faces. Perhaps that thought it's far fetched from our daily reality, but since you can't control how others feel, your best bet is to control your own attitude and just carry on through the day as if "Every siren is a symphony/ And every tear's a waterfall".
Enjoy your weekend, and keep up the feel good nature of summer.
And for those on the Southern Hemisphere... Listen to something that takes you to where the sunshine is.

Memories- The Power Of Scent

There is something very powerful about a person's sense of smell, and though it is not as developed as our canine or feline friends, it still plays an essential role in our existence.
I won't go into details about how our sense of smell has defined our existence throughout the ages from a biological stand point, but on simpler terms it plays a huge part on building our memories throughout our lifetime.
While I walked into a cosmetic store to test on some concealers, a very familiar scent transported me back to my high school days. As I walked through a particular section of the store, I kept on remembering some pretty random moments from almost 9 years ago! Once I realized this woman spraying Miracle by Lancôme all over the place, the pink bottle took me back to my room as I got ready to go to school.
My mother is responsible for my love of perfumes, and I recall she had quite a collection. Interestingly enough, we ended up developing very similar tastes in perfumes, even at times buying the same kind to each other as gifts on such occasions as christmas.
Here I'll be sharing some of my favorite perfumes; some of which are very old... but that's the thing... they remind me of better days.

Dolce Vita by Dior: I remember being a little girl and spraying this on my blanket to smell like my mom when she would go out. Still love the smell.

Miss Dior Chérie by Dior: This one is young, fresh, sensual... Love the smell.

Poême by Lancôme: Another oldie but goodie. Very sophisticated smell.

Miracle by Lancôme: I would spray this behind my wrists, and put some behind my ears... Everyone would compliment on my scent, including guys!

Hypnose by Lancôme: This was my casual go to perfume.

The Beat by Burberry: My mom got me this for christmas in 2008, and it was love at first scent. Still in love.

Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel: Very sexy and young scent. This reminds me of sexy nights around Miami Beach.

Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier: Well, it seems that my personal theme is luxury, but that's what I love about it.

Very Irrésistible by Givenchy: I first received a sample of it after a big purchase and never turned back.

Organza by Givenchy: This also reminds me of my childhood. It was a part of my mom's perfume collection.

So, none of those perfumes are in order of favoritism. I am in love with many more fragrances, but there are too many to mention. If you haven't started yet, start creating memorable moments while wearing your favorite perfume. Going back in time is as easy as a sniff of your favorite scent. It doesn't necessarily have to be a perfume, it works with food too :-)

J'adore Dior- Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011-2012

How do I love thee... Let me count the ways. Even if you're not a truly avid fashionista, the possibility of you recognizing the magnificent name of the House of Christian Dior is very likely. It has been around for years, and its name is a synonym of luxury, glamour, and timeless pieces.
I have been MIA lately, but it's all for a good cause... I am moving to Germany at the end of this month (hello my dear German readers!), but I couldn't resist my enthusiasm over this week's Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture. Who opened the shows? You guessed it right... Dior!
What I love about Haute Couture is that it's a way for designers to express their creativity, and choose true artistry and style over functionality. Everything is over the top, and the shows become a parade of fantasy transporting you to a different era- an era where people still strive to achieve elegance over comfort.
For those nay-sayers who claim "you can't wear that in real life", well guess they never watched "Sex and The City" where the character Carrie Bradshaw would mix and match vintage and haute couture pieces in her daily wardrobe all the time. The problem here really isn't about whether pieces are wearable or not... it's whether you can afford them at all.
As an artist, fashion fan, musician, and fellow lover of all things beautiful, until I am able to afford those items, I use them as inspiration and hopefully this week will inspire you to be daring, dangerous, glamourous, and a true trendsetter.
