Soundtrack of the Day- Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall by Coldplay

I must confess I have a thing for British bands... but my love affair with Coldplay started ages ago since 1999 (in all fairness I was 12 years old then, and I know they existed as a band under a different name before that).
Anyway, today is the beginning of another weekend, it's summer time, the day is bright, sunny and warm. Days like these call for a positive upbeat song that just makes you see every color a bit brighter than it might appear. Music influences the way I feel quite often, so by making a pleasant memory with a particular song, it enables me to recreate that same feeling even during a cloudy, stormy, and rainy day.
When I heard this song for the first time, automatically I started thinking about a lively city, where people just went about their business with a full smile on their faces. Perhaps that thought it's far fetched from our daily reality, but since you can't control how others feel, your best bet is to control your own attitude and just carry on through the day as if "Every siren is a symphony/ And every tear's a waterfall".
Enjoy your weekend, and keep up the feel good nature of summer.
And for those on the Southern Hemisphere... Listen to something that takes you to where the sunshine is.

Memories- The Power Of Scent

There is something very powerful about a person's sense of smell, and though it is not as developed as our canine or feline friends, it still plays an essential role in our existence.
I won't go into details about how our sense of smell has defined our existence throughout the ages from a biological stand point, but on simpler terms it plays a huge part on building our memories throughout our lifetime.
While I walked into a cosmetic store to test on some concealers, a very familiar scent transported me back to my high school days. As I walked through a particular section of the store, I kept on remembering some pretty random moments from almost 9 years ago! Once I realized this woman spraying Miracle by Lancôme all over the place, the pink bottle took me back to my room as I got ready to go to school.
My mother is responsible for my love of perfumes, and I recall she had quite a collection. Interestingly enough, we ended up developing very similar tastes in perfumes, even at times buying the same kind to each other as gifts on such occasions as christmas.
Here I'll be sharing some of my favorite perfumes; some of which are very old... but that's the thing... they remind me of better days.

Dolce Vita by Dior: I remember being a little girl and spraying this on my blanket to smell like my mom when she would go out. Still love the smell.

Miss Dior Chérie by Dior: This one is young, fresh, sensual... Love the smell.

Poême by Lancôme: Another oldie but goodie. Very sophisticated smell.

Miracle by Lancôme: I would spray this behind my wrists, and put some behind my ears... Everyone would compliment on my scent, including guys!

Hypnose by Lancôme: This was my casual go to perfume.

The Beat by Burberry: My mom got me this for christmas in 2008, and it was love at first scent. Still in love.

Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel: Very sexy and young scent. This reminds me of sexy nights around Miami Beach.

Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier: Well, it seems that my personal theme is luxury, but that's what I love about it.

Very Irrésistible by Givenchy: I first received a sample of it after a big purchase and never turned back.

Organza by Givenchy: This also reminds me of my childhood. It was a part of my mom's perfume collection.

So, none of those perfumes are in order of favoritism. I am in love with many more fragrances, but there are too many to mention. If you haven't started yet, start creating memorable moments while wearing your favorite perfume. Going back in time is as easy as a sniff of your favorite scent. It doesn't necessarily have to be a perfume, it works with food too :-)

J'adore Dior- Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011-2012

How do I love thee... Let me count the ways. Even if you're not a truly avid fashionista, the possibility of you recognizing the magnificent name of the House of Christian Dior is very likely. It has been around for years, and its name is a synonym of luxury, glamour, and timeless pieces.
I have been MIA lately, but it's all for a good cause... I am moving to Germany at the end of this month (hello my dear German readers!), but I couldn't resist my enthusiasm over this week's Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture. Who opened the shows? You guessed it right... Dior!
What I love about Haute Couture is that it's a way for designers to express their creativity, and choose true artistry and style over functionality. Everything is over the top, and the shows become a parade of fantasy transporting you to a different era- an era where people still strive to achieve elegance over comfort.
For those nay-sayers who claim "you can't wear that in real life", well guess they never watched "Sex and The City" where the character Carrie Bradshaw would mix and match vintage and haute couture pieces in her daily wardrobe all the time. The problem here really isn't about whether pieces are wearable or not... it's whether you can afford them at all.
As an artist, fashion fan, musician, and fellow lover of all things beautiful, until I am able to afford those items, I use them as inspiration and hopefully this week will inspire you to be daring, dangerous, glamourous, and a true trendsetter.

Soundtrack of the Day- Sofi Needs A Ladder by Deadmau5

Weekend is here once again! I have no idea why, but it seems like time is flying by so fast these days. Anyway, there is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to enjoy the weekend right?
I am in a partying mood (yea I know I’m pregnant, but I’m not dead), and I find it today that Sofi Needs A Ladder is the perfect song to start the weekend with. It’s sexy, daring, and it just feels darn good in my veins.
I personally love Deadmau5, and even thought last time I saw him live was like 2 years ago in Miami Beach’s club Mansion, I had such a good time that I keep on jamming to his beats. For the rest of you lucky fellas who’ve seen him touring around most recently I envy you just a tiny bit…
I am wishing all of you party animals the greatest first Summer weekend of 2011 Ever!!!!! I’ll be enjoying my weekend partying around the house with husband J

Happy Weekend

Soundtrack of the Day- Kill Everybody by Skrillex

Wow, I can’t believe how many annoying people we can encounter in one day!
Seriously, I’m going to rant a bit for I feel it’ll be very beneficial for my blood pressure and my baby. Why are there so many stupid women/men acting all trashy, walking around thinking they’re all THAT, and thinking they can intimidate you with their trashy mouths? Plus, they’re very “tough” when walking around with their lil cliques, and they tell on other people to each other if someone is doing something they disprove off. Well, I witness one of those ugly bit**es trying to intimidate an old lady inside Toronto’s subway system…. I mean, I can’t even begin to express how ridiculous I thought their behavior was, but what was even worst was the whole kindergarden approach to it all. It only took one of the four friends to tell one of the girls in the group that “That old fart there was looking at you funny”, for one of them to flip out and start cursing and banging on the glass.

Well… Now to my song choice for the day. I love Skrillex. To me he is a talented musician who you cannot fit into a box and label him, All of his songs possess a “Skrillex” signature of chords and arrangements, but they all turn out to be very different from each other. Ironically, I listen to “Kill Everybody” to get me in a good mood, but today it was exactly what I thought about when witnessing the subway incident.
I love this electronic song… and it helped me vent, and feel happier afterwards. I would usually go for something heavier, but my whole philosophy is to only feed positive feelings. Now that I feel better, I can listen to it while dancing around my room. Hope you too enjoy!

Summer Favorites- Lovin' Dresses

I have to say that there is nothing better than being a woman during summer time. Sorry guys, but we ladies have it pretty easy (as soon as we choose what to wear from our closets) when it comes to summer outfits.  My personal summer staple are dresses. I couldn't imagine a summer day without being able to wear a cute summer dress. You can dress them up, dress them down, wear them with heals, wedges, flats, with leggings, with a cute cardigan... plus the right dress can be flattering to any figure.
My favorite store to choose cute dresses from is Zara. Depending on your body shape, you may choose something from their TRF or Woman selections. Their prices range from cheap to moderate... to a bit more expensive depending on their materials, but they most often than not have amazing sales going on. Some of my favorites this season taken from their websites are...
I would wear this one for a day of shopping around town, or for a lunch with a friend.

This pink cutie is definitely date material in my opinion. Simple, but it could wow with the right jewelry.

When baby bump was still small enough, this is a cute option to dress it down during the date, and up in the evening if you find yourself short on time.

Running errands shouldn't mean you shouldn't feel feminine.

I would throw this over my bikini

For the days when we don't feel like trying or simply not super sexy. This type of dress works for me because it hides bloating, but not in an obvious way.

There are a lot more stores and outfits I love to wear during the summer... this is just a little taste of what I go for... comfort, some style, and not trying too hard. Ultimately what makes an outfit are the accessories, footwear, hair and make-up.
What do you love during the summer?

Soundtrack of the Day- Island In The Sun by Weezer

Sometimes I wish real life had a cool soundtrack playing during key moments in our lives. Since such thing wouldn't be very feasible, let alone practical (noise pollution anyone?), I tend to choose one song each day that describes my current mood, a thought, a memory... or simply what I'm doing the most on that particular day.
Today is officially the first day of summer, and even though Canada is not notorious for its summer days, I can't help but feel good while remembering Miami Beach (place where I grew up) and Brazil (place of birth) while looking at the local clear blue sky. The song of choice is pretty self explanatory... it's a feel good tune, simple, no hidden meanings, and it reflects the easy going nature summer tends to bring to people's minds.
I hope wherever you are, you get to set aside at least one day a week to relax, and enjoy the sun.
Have a delicious summer
xoxo
