Soundtrack of the Day- Sofi Needs A Ladder by Deadmau5

Weekend is here once again! I have no idea why, but it seems like time is flying by so fast these days. Anyway, there is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to enjoy the weekend right?
I am in a partying mood (yea I know I’m pregnant, but I’m not dead), and I find it today that Sofi Needs A Ladder is the perfect song to start the weekend with. It’s sexy, daring, and it just feels darn good in my veins.
I personally love Deadmau5, and even thought last time I saw him live was like 2 years ago in Miami Beach’s club Mansion, I had such a good time that I keep on jamming to his beats. For the rest of you lucky fellas who’ve seen him touring around most recently I envy you just a tiny bit…
I am wishing all of you party animals the greatest first Summer weekend of 2011 Ever!!!!! I’ll be enjoying my weekend partying around the house with husband J

Happy Weekend

Soundtrack of the Day- Kill Everybody by Skrillex

Wow, I can’t believe how many annoying people we can encounter in one day!
Seriously, I’m going to rant a bit for I feel it’ll be very beneficial for my blood pressure and my baby. Why are there so many stupid women/men acting all trashy, walking around thinking they’re all THAT, and thinking they can intimidate you with their trashy mouths? Plus, they’re very “tough” when walking around with their lil cliques, and they tell on other people to each other if someone is doing something they disprove off. Well, I witness one of those ugly bit**es trying to intimidate an old lady inside Toronto’s subway system…. I mean, I can’t even begin to express how ridiculous I thought their behavior was, but what was even worst was the whole kindergarden approach to it all. It only took one of the four friends to tell one of the girls in the group that “That old fart there was looking at you funny”, for one of them to flip out and start cursing and banging on the glass.

Well… Now to my song choice for the day. I love Skrillex. To me he is a talented musician who you cannot fit into a box and label him, All of his songs possess a “Skrillex” signature of chords and arrangements, but they all turn out to be very different from each other. Ironically, I listen to “Kill Everybody” to get me in a good mood, but today it was exactly what I thought about when witnessing the subway incident.
I love this electronic song… and it helped me vent, and feel happier afterwards. I would usually go for something heavier, but my whole philosophy is to only feed positive feelings. Now that I feel better, I can listen to it while dancing around my room. Hope you too enjoy!

Summer Favorites- Lovin' Dresses

I have to say that there is nothing better than being a woman during summer time. Sorry guys, but we ladies have it pretty easy (as soon as we choose what to wear from our closets) when it comes to summer outfits.  My personal summer staple are dresses. I couldn't imagine a summer day without being able to wear a cute summer dress. You can dress them up, dress them down, wear them with heals, wedges, flats, with leggings, with a cute cardigan... plus the right dress can be flattering to any figure.
My favorite store to choose cute dresses from is Zara. Depending on your body shape, you may choose something from their TRF or Woman selections. Their prices range from cheap to moderate... to a bit more expensive depending on their materials, but they most often than not have amazing sales going on. Some of my favorites this season taken from their websites are...
I would wear this one for a day of shopping around town, or for a lunch with a friend.

This pink cutie is definitely date material in my opinion. Simple, but it could wow with the right jewelry.

When baby bump was still small enough, this is a cute option to dress it down during the date, and up in the evening if you find yourself short on time.

Running errands shouldn't mean you shouldn't feel feminine.

I would throw this over my bikini

For the days when we don't feel like trying or simply not super sexy. This type of dress works for me because it hides bloating, but not in an obvious way.

There are a lot more stores and outfits I love to wear during the summer... this is just a little taste of what I go for... comfort, some style, and not trying too hard. Ultimately what makes an outfit are the accessories, footwear, hair and make-up.
What do you love during the summer?

Soundtrack of the Day- Island In The Sun by Weezer

Sometimes I wish real life had a cool soundtrack playing during key moments in our lives. Since such thing wouldn't be very feasible, let alone practical (noise pollution anyone?), I tend to choose one song each day that describes my current mood, a thought, a memory... or simply what I'm doing the most on that particular day.
Today is officially the first day of summer, and even though Canada is not notorious for its summer days, I can't help but feel good while remembering Miami Beach (place where I grew up) and Brazil (place of birth) while looking at the local clear blue sky. The song of choice is pretty self explanatory... it's a feel good tune, simple, no hidden meanings, and it reflects the easy going nature summer tends to bring to people's minds.
I hope wherever you are, you get to set aside at least one day a week to relax, and enjoy the sun.
Have a delicious summer

Is it possible to get comfort and style?

The past few days have been very hectic for me. Getting ready to move overseas, keeping up with doctor's appointments, and preparing to leave for the weekend (I'm going to Montreal) has been a bit harder than anticipated.

If you live anywhere on the planet where where sunshine is limited only during the spring/summer periods, then you would understand why I chose to walk this entire past week around the city of Toronto. Now, I am on my second trimester and my regular shoes are not as comfy as I once thought they were. My flats are too flat, and I won't last longer than 30 min walking on heels. So, part of my errands was running around town looking for the perfect shoes. I went to all my favorite stores, including Aldo, but all to no avail.
I decided to search online, and I thought to myself should I google Crocs? Now, bare with me that I have never fallen under the "Crocs Spell" for I have always thought my heels, wedges, and flats were all super comfortable thank you very much; however, on a desperate move I visited their website.
Wow, I was surprised to find that they have some really cute flats available, which promised the same level of comfort as their typical clogs. I decided I would go to their store and give it a try... after all I had been to so many different places already, that I had nothing to lose.
I must say that I love my new Crocs, I got the Adrina ultraviolet/berry color... they are super comfy and they look really cute with a dress on, leggings, shorts, and you can incorporate them into your outfit for color blocking... purple and orange are very in at the moment.
They have other flats and cute sandals available in bold colors such as pinks, purples, blues,  neon yellow, and neon greens just to name a few.
Go check them out and experience the comfort for yourself.

ps: I am not being endorsed by Crocs or any of their affiliates.

A Fashion Fairy Tale- Chanel

I have confession to make. I love fairies. I believe with all my heart I am one of them. On a different note, I am in love with this short film from one of my favorite fashion houses in the world- Chanel. The 25 minutes short film directed by none other than Karl Lagerfeld himself is simply delicious! (just using my favorite word, not attempting to coin a term). It features actress Anna Mouglailis who portrayed Coco Chanel herself in Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, American supermodel Kristen McMenamy, and the amazing Danish model Freja Beha as the fairy who stirs the pot.
Aside from the characters, the main focus are the outfits…. I just honestly loved them all, especially Kristen’s first outfit in the movie…. I love Chanel…
The Tale Of A Fairy is a must watch for those who love fashion, and a good drama.

One Small Step for Myself... A Big Step for the Family.

Today I am writing one of the most personal entries to date (I used to write on other blog sites reviewing artists and such).
I am happy to share with the world that from today forward I am a married woman.  My husband and I had a simple ceremony at the City Hall, with two of his co-workers as witnesses. Both our families live in different cities from us, but we still felt that it was important to us to have our child as a legally bound family.
This is a touchy issue, as I know that people have different views on marriage and children in general. I reside in Canada (for now) where living common-law is a strong as an official marriage certificate especially when there is a child involved, but we felt it was important to us to be able to seal the deal so that no matter where we go, we'll always be a family.
We'll be planning on having another small ceremony in the presence of our families, and an exquisite reception. As of now, I like it that we shared this moment with the people who matters most- each other.
Wishing everyone a delicious week...

Art For All Moods - Music

There are days when we find ourselves in a particular mood, when no matter how many different outlets one can resort to reflect what we feel, and we just find it better to fall back into an old comforting favorite artist. Well, that’s what I do at least instead of bugging my friends and family with personal nonsense. I have friends who sort of follow the same concept, and often times they find themselves reading the same book over and over, or going through a particular artist’s gallery, practicing a particular dance routine by a certain choreographer, and … fill in the blank in order to snap out of a, emphasize, express, or even recreate a certain feeling.

I am a musician, so it is obvious that I’m drawn towards music as my escape, my mirror, and my guidance. Each year we’re introduced to awesome newcomers in the art world, but I always choose an artist to rely on during the times when I am in a particular mood. This year I chose Radiohead.

It doesn’t matter what mood I am in, they always manage to be dead on in expressing all that is roaming through my tumultuous brain. Their musicality has been praised, criticized, and scrutinized by thousands of critics, other fellow musicians, and listeners alike since their formation and rise to success. Saying that, I am not here to tell you about the technicalities that make Radiohead one of the best Alternative Rock bands of all time (to my opinion anyway). I will just simply say that their abstract lyrics, Thom’s unique vocal abilities, the Greewood brothers mastering of their instruments, and Selway’s beats are just able to tell my story no matter what weather is going on inside my head.

Just like when we were kids, and we felt the need to report everything to our parents (from the cool star we won from the teacher in drawing class at kindergarden, to the boo boo we had on our little fingers), I find it delightful that by listening to their songs I get the same comforting effect. I know how each song is going to end; heck! I can even sing them harmonizing with Thom as if I was a part of the band and the recording, but the pleasure is still the same. Some songs even seem to have been written just for that moment in my life! Darn, I wish life could be like a movie sometimes, with cool background music playing randomly matching our personal events.

So, be it music, dance, a movie, paintings, photographs, an author, etc, we all have a special place for a form of art that can express better than us what is going on in our deepest subconscious minds. What is your outlet? What is your choice of art for all moods?

Keep on moving on

Where to start… I am a 24 year old with big dreams. I’ve been jumping from place to place ever since I can remember, until I finally settled in Miami Beach for around 10yrs before making a drastic move to Montreal, Canada. Didn’t last long, and eight months later I was moving once again this time to the city of Toronto. Here I worked for a while as a booker/agent at a boutique modeling agency, and things came to a halt when I found out I was pregnant the day after my 24th birthday.
I must admit I entered a state of trance as I slowly witnessed my “Big Dreams” being shattered piece by piece. One morning I woke up (feeling like crap, very typical during the first trimester), and I thought to myself “When will I stop being sick?”. Sick? I wasn’t sick, I wasn’t dying, I was only pregnant, and that shouldn’t mean it was the end of the road for me; I simply had to take a detour and walk a different route.
After much deliberation, my partner and I decided that we would move to Europe and have the baby there. Once again, I find myself getting things ready for another big move… I must say that some people now regard me as a nomad, but I am up for the challenge especially if it’ll be beneficial for the baby, my partner and hopefully I.
So here I am… I have decided to dedicate this blog to everyone who still have big dreams, and no matter how difficult circumstances get along the way- they never give up. I’m looking forward to sharing some of my life experiences, music and style tips and preferences.
